On the way to Bombay Beach, we passed three or four trains in quick succession. I may have seen more trains that day than I ever had before. Of course, we couldn't find a good place to pull over and take pictures. We finally pulled over ahead of a train we had passed a few minutes earlier, but I didn't have the camera ready. By the time I loaded the film, the shot was gone. Blew a few frames trying anyway. Fortunately, this locomotive was parked on a siding, so I had all the time in the world.

One of a whole gallery of outdoor paintings. I don't know if they just happened to be fairly new or if they're diligently maintained, but the vibrance was amazing for something that lives outdoors in the desert.

One last stop on the way out of town. We missed the lunch rush, so we had the place to ourselves. Chatted with the owner and got a really good patty melt.
